removal
Careful work by a skilled professional is essential when removing fireplaces. Marble, stone and cast iron can be surprisingly fragile; without a good understanding of how mantelpieces are assembled it's easy to do unnecessary damage.
restoration
I offer a full fireplace repair and restoration service based on your schedule and availability.
For marble surrounds restoration can range from deep cleaning with specialist detergents or steam cleaning to dry polishing and bleaching. I can repair chips and breaks, as well as sourcing replacement pieces.
fitting and REfitting
I use traditional techniques to fit antique fireplaces, casting plaster and copper cramps. This method is strong enough to hold the surround firm for decades, but delicate enough to be removed without causing damage. Improper fitting can be dangerous even on decorative fireplaces as they can over time come unmoored from the wall.
Cast iron repair
Repair and restoration of cast iron fireplace inserts, including stripping, welding, refinishing with either stove paint, or traditional graphite finishes.
